Heather chose to practice family law with Petersen King because it gives her the ability to make a concrete difference in the lives of her clients on a daily basis. Her compassionate and empathetic nature make her well-suited for helping clients navigate the complex issues family law entails. Heather has a strong background in negotiation, having competed in several negotiation competitions throughout North America and Europe, including placing fifth at the International Negotiation Competition for Law Students in 2015. Heather firmly believes in resolving matters as expeditiously and with the least expense (both emotional and financial) as possible. She also believes in empowering clients to resolve their family issues through the collaborative process and recently completed her collaborative practice training.
Heather is passionate about giving back to the community and continues to volunteer with the Legal Help Centre, helping to provide crucial access to justice services. Heather is a member of the Manitoba Bar Association Mid-Winter Conference planning committee and has appeared in the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre/Manitoba Bar Association’s joint annual theatre production, raising funds for the arts.
