After practising business law at a large firm in Winnipeg, Renée made a change that allows her to work more closely with clients and see the difference she can make in their lives. Renée’s family law practice ranges from litigation to collaborative practice and she has appeared at all levels of Court in Manitoba.
It is important for her to ensure that her clients understand the legal process and feel like they are involved in their own case. Renée says that what separates Petersen King from other firms is our dedication to resolving matters in the most amicable, efficient and cost effective way possible. Renée is bilingual and does some legal work in French.
Renée is one of the few lawyers in Manitoba with a practice focus in third-party assisted reproductive technology and fertility law. She has worked with families to obtain declarations of parentage and to prepare and review surrogacy and donor agreements. Renée also practises in the area of residential real estate, including purchases, sales and refinances.
Outside of work, Renée volunteers for the appeal board of the Manitoba Soccer Association. Having played at the premier and provincial level, supporting youth soccer in the city is important to Renée.
She is also kept busy by the three boys in her life: her husband, their son and their yellow lab. To de-stress she plays hockey, runs, practises yoga and eats (a lot) – she is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and enjoys trying new restaurants.
